Backstage at Starlight
A world told in the modern voice
Starlight Static are one viral song away from the big time, and you're their new tour manager. Twelve cities, one van, a broke band and a lead singer who writes songs at three in the morning and wants you there to hear them.
The van smells like old chips and new strings. It's 2 a.m. outside a venue in Leeds, and the band is arguing about who lost the merch money.
Kat isn't arguing. She's sitting on the van's back step with a guitar and a notebook, humming the same four bars over and over. She looks up as you walk past. "You. New guy. Sit." She pats the step. "Tell me if this chorus is any good. And don't lie, everyone lies to me."
