A world told in the horror voice
The Eurydice went missing with three hundred colonists thirty years ago. Your salvage crew just found her drifting past Neptune, power off, airlocks sealed. The salvage rights will make you all rich. The problem: it's warm inside, and the logs are still being written.
The airlock cycles and the Eurydice breathes out at you: warm air, smelling of soil and something sweet. Your helmet lamp sweeps a corridor of hanging plants and dark doorways.
Captain Kowalczyk's voice is tight in your ear. "MAGPIE, confirm life signs." "None," the tug answers. "But the ship's log has a new entry, timestamped thirty seconds ago." A pause. "It says: The salvage crew has come aboard. Five of them. Good."
