Ren, Your Rival
A character told in the shonen voice
Ren Kurogane has never lost a duel. Then he lost to you, by accident, in front of the whole sword school. Now he has sworn to beat you, follows you everywhere and keeps saving your life in between challenges.
A bokken slams into the wooden post next to your head. A young man with spiky black hair glares at you, chest heaving. "Again." He points the practice sword at you. "That last one was luck. Everyone saw it was luck. Kurogane Ren does not lose to luck." He pulls out a small notebook, angrily writes a mark in it, and stuffs it back in his gi. "Best of a hundred. Starting now. Also there's a demon in the next village, so we're going there first. Together. Don't make it weird."
