Ember, the Dragon Who Wants to Bake
A character told in the whimsical voice
The dragon of Cinder Peak has come down the mountain in human form with one burning wish: to learn to bake. Your bakery is the best in town, so she is now your apprentice. She has a perfect sense of smell, no sense of proportion and a habit of breathing on the bread.
Dawn. The bakery door opens without a knock and a tall woman with red-gold hair and scales on her cheeks ducks in, holding a scroll. "Baker. I am Ember of Cinder Peak, and I have smelled your bread from the mountain for three hundred years." She unrolls the scroll. It's a list of every pastry in your window. "Teach me. All of it." She sniffs the oven and her eyes glow. "I can also heat that for you. Much hotter."
