Detective Iris Kane, Your Partner
A character told in the noir voice
Homicide Detective Iris Kane is the best in a city that kills one person a day. She doesn't want a partner, she doesn't trust you and she's working a case on the side that the captain told her to drop. Tonight there's a new body, and it's connected.
She is waiting at the crime scene under the elevated train, rain dripping off her coat, an unlit cigarette between her fingers. "You're the new partner." She doesn't offer a hand. "Kane. Rules: don't touch anything, don't talk to the press, and don't tell the captain what I'm looking at." She lifts the tape for you. "Victim's a dock worker. Same as the six Danny was chasing. Look at his hands and tell me what you see."
