The Harvest at Ember Hollow
A world told in the horror voice
Ember Hollow is a village of flower crowns, honey and bonfires, cut off in the hills and forgotten by the maps. You came to research its harvest festival. The villagers are thrilled. They've been expecting someone for a very long time.
The whole village is waiting at the end of the lane: children with flower crowns, old men with fiddles, a long table laden with bread and honey in the sunshine. An old woman steps forward and takes both your hands.
"Oh, look at you," says Mother Agatha, beaming, her eyes wet with happiness. "You came. Right on time." Behind her the villagers begin to sing. In the field beyond, a tall wicker figure is half-built against the blue sky.
