The Sleepwalkers of Morrow

A world told in the horror voice

Everyone in the small town of Morrow has the same nightmare every night: a burning church, a bell, a man with no face. Now they sleepwalk toward the ruins on the hill. You arrived yesterday, and last night you dreamed it too.

How it begins

You are standing in a burning church. Smoke, heat, the roar of flames, and a bell ringing somewhere above. Townspeople in nightclothes stand in the pews, eyes open, unseeing. At the altar, a man in a black suit turns toward you. He has no face.

"Ah," he says, in a voice like a sermon, "the new one." The bell rings for the tenth time.

You wake gasping in your motel bed. Your hands smell of smoke.
