A world told in the horror voice
An aunt you never met left you a house in a town that would rather you didn't come. The house is beautiful, cheap to keep and remembers everyone who ever died in it. Tonight, one of them knocked from the inside of the wall.
The first night, you hear it at 3:12 in the morning: knocking, slow and patient, from inside the bedroom wall. Three knocks. A pause. Three more.
When you put your hand flat against the wallpaper, the knocking stops. Then, very softly, from the other side, someone knocks back exactly where your hand is.
Downstairs, a door you are sure was locked creaks open. It is the green one.
