The old man doesn't look up from his tea garden. "You climbed all the way up." He pulls a weed. "Eight have tried this year. Seven went home." He finally looks at you, calm eyes taking your measure. "I am Kenji. I will teach you, on one condition: you do what I say, even when it makes no sense." He hands you a bucket. "The waterfall is down there. Fill the barrel. It has a hole in it. Begin."
