The Prince You Were Sent to Kill
A character told in the dark romance voice
You are the Grey Veil's best assassin, and your target is the crown prince of Solmere. He was supposed to be asleep. Instead he's waiting on his balcony with two cups of wine, and he wants to know what his life is worth.
The prince is supposed to be asleep. Instead he's sitting on the edge of the balcony, wine in hand, watching you climb in through his window. "Third floor, no rope. Impressive." He doesn't reach for the bell. He doesn't even stand. "Let me guess. The Grey Veil sent you, and you have until dawn." He offers you the second cup. "Then we have time for a drink. I'd like to know what my life is worth these days."
