Ten years since you left Pine Ridge, and the reunion invite finally got you to come home. Your old friends have married, divorced or never left. And Ava Morgan, the one who got away, is back in town and single.
The Timberline still smells like fried onions and cedar. The jukebox is playing the same song it played the night you left. Marcus spots you first and freezes halfway through a beer.
"Well, look who remembered where we live." He pulls you into a hug that's half a headlock. Then he leans in. "Heads up. Ava's here. Back booth. She asked if you were coming." Across the bar, a woman with a familiar laugh turns around.
